-A story about America's secret killer-
The Rise of Sugar
Soda Serving Size
This Image is a perfect example of how over the years our obsession with sugar has driven the sizes of our drinks up by over four and a half times the original size. This increase in drink size has been a major issue in some cities such as New York. Former Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, actually attempted a ban on some of these sugary treats as they will have many adverse effects if consumed regularly. These effects have been studied widely and are rarely disputed. One of the Main effects found from drinking soda regularly is weight gain. Harvard found that this is especially true with younger people, increasing their chance of becoming obese by up to 60% in the next one and a half years. One Big Gulp every day would have you drinking around 70 pounds of sugar a year just from that one drink a day. This would put you at nearly three times the recommended amount of sugar. That is not a sustainable lifestyle so as a country we need to make an effort to cut back on sugary drinks and make an effort to watch what goes into our body.
