-A story about America's secret killer-
The Rise of Sugar
Alternatives To Sugary Drinks
This common drink probably shouldn't be so common. Many people will drink this can or possibly two or three of these every day. That however is by no means a healthy lifestyle. Many studies have found that high daily amounts of sugar can have adverse effects. This can will certainly add to the “high amounts” of sugar that are going in to your body as most dietitians recommend only 5% of your caloric intake to be sugar, that's only 25-35 grams of sugar for a regular person. This can has 39 grams of sugar putting you over with just one serving, those who drink this on a regular basis put their body at tremendous risk. A Harvard study found that those who increase their sugary drink consumption by 12 oz (1 can) per day were much more likely to gain weight and children had a 60% higher chance of becoming overweight in the next 1 and a half years. Due to these studies it has become overwhelmingly obvious that these drinks are not meant to be consumed on a regularly daily basis as some believe. Some however, may be astonished when seemingly healthier options are no better.

This drink seems like a healthy alternative to soda since it has vitamins and minerals and is all “natural” but that is not so. This drink is not the fresh and healthy green tea that you might expect. This drink is in fact even worse than the soda shown earlier when it comes to sugar. In a bottle of SoBe Green Tea one will consume over 60 grams of sugar that is twice the daily recommended amount of sugar in just one drink! A healthier alternative to both this and the soda would be a Smoothie made with healthy and fresh ingredients

Smoothies can either be healthy or not, it depends on how you make them. Some smoothies have over one hundred grams of sugar but others have very little. If you make a smoothie using for example Berries, bananas, Low fat greek yogurt, Protein Powder, other Fresh Fruit and perhaps some Milk. Those ingredients would make a healthy smoothie that will provide you with many much needed nutrients while not giving you a sugar rush for the rest of the day. Be careful however, many people think that because they have fruit in their smoothie
